The phishing scam attempts to get members to reveal debit card information by posing as a legitimate entity. The call comes from a restricted phone number and states that a debit card has been deactivated and directs the member to respond to a prompt and enter their card number. Marine Credit Union does not make automated outgoing calls requiring members to provide this personal information. - If you believe the contact may be legitimate, contact the financial institution yourself. The key is that you should initiate contact, using contact information that you know or have verified.
- Review account statements regularly to ensure accuracy.
